Privacy policy

Who we are

Revive Family Counselling is an online counselling practice run by Shiyanka Rossiter, a Level 3 member of the Australian Counselling Association. We handle personal and health information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. ABN: 41 420 076 139.

What we collect

• Contact details: your name, phone number, email, address and an emergency contact.
• Information about you and your wellbeing: what you share in your intake form, such as your relationship status, what's bringing you to counselling, how you've been feeling, and any medication.
• Session notes: brief notes Shiyanka keeps about your sessions.
• Booking details: your name, email, mobile and the times you book.
• Payment details: card payments are handled by Stripe, a secure payment provider. Your card number is never seen or stored by Revive; Stripe keeps your card so the rest of the session fee, and any cancellation fee, can be charged as described in the cancellation policy.
• Student card photo: only if you ask for the student concession. It's used just to check you're eligible, and it's deleted as soon as Shiyanka has checked it.

Why we collect it

Only to provide you with safe, effective counselling: to understand your situation, plan our sessions, contact you about appointments, and reach your emergency contact if there's a serious concern for your safety.

When information may be shared

Your information is never sold, and it's only shared with your consent, except where the law requires it. This includes when:

• there is a serious risk to your life, health or safety, or someone else's
• a child may be at risk of abuse, which must be reported by law
• records are subpoenaed by a court
